In a profession clouded by non-disclosure agreements, proprietary methods, intellectual property and confidentiality contracts, it is often hard as a young designer to stand on the shoulders of giants. There are so many lessons to learn from the past work of others (tools, methods, and methodologies to name a few) that waste away under piles of NDA’s. In an attempt to be more transparent with my own work, I’ve decided to create this blog to share my humble experiences and perspective with the hope to trigger an idea, get a reaction, or at least start a conversation.
What started as a small personal project over my academic winter break has turned into 3 folders, 53 template files, countless iterations, and hours spent talking with godaddy.com. I’ve learned about Java, Linux, CSS, PHP, ABC, 123… and lost a bit of my mind. All of this aside, I am happy to report that all of the sketches, doodles, and ‘cool’ ideas in my notebook have finally come to fruition.
Now it is time to get some sleep. Check back soon.
Cheers,
Dan
